This Bloomfield Hills kitchen remodeling project transformed an outdated, closed-off space into a bright, functional kitchen designed for everyday living and effortless entertaining. Working closely with the homeowners, we reimagined the layout, selected custom cabinetry, premium finishes, lighting, countertops, and fixtures, and coordinated every design detail to create a timeless result. As a full-service interior design and remodeling firm serving Bloomfield Hills and the Detroit Metro area, our goal was to deliver a kitchen that feels warm, welcoming, and tailored to the family's lifestyle. From concept through material selections and construction coordination, every decision was made to maximize beauty, functionality, and long-term value

The Scope

This was a full kitchen renovation from the studs out. Jackie and the Macy Lane Designs team managed every phase of the project, from initial design concept through contractor coordination and final styling. The scope included demolition of a non-structural wall to open the kitchen to the adjacent living area, completely new custom cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, and appliances.

Materials & Design Details

Every material and finish was thoughtfully selected to create a timeless, transitional aesthetic that feels both elevated and livable. Custom wood-tone slim Shaker cabinetry is paired with slab porcelain countertops, including an extended island designed for gathering and entertaining. Warm brass hardware and fixtures add a refined touch, while layered under-cabinet and recessed lighting provides both functional task lighting and a welcoming glow in the evenings. To make the most of an otherwise awkward wall, we incorporated unique shelving and accent lighting, transforming an underutilized area into a beautiful focal point that adds both character and function to the space.

The Result

The finished kitchen is unrecognizable from its original state. What was once a dark, segmented space is now an open, light-filled hub of the home. Our clients now have a kitchen that supports both weeknight family dinners and weekend gatherings with friends.
