The Macy Lane story started in 1992 when after taking an Interior Design class in high school, I was hooked on creating beautiful and inviting spaces. Back then, if you were not great at drawing, Interior Design wasn't a wise career choice, so I went on to college and majored in communications and public relations. While my career in marketing & PR allowed me to refine my business skills, I always had the desire to be more creative on a regular basis. After remodeling several homes and doing design projects for friends & family, I decided to officially take the plunge into full-time interior design in 2020. The COVID pandemic allowed me the chance to complete in-depth interior design training and refine my design skills … because what else are you going to do during quarantine?
Today, the Macy Lane team offers a wide variety of interior design services for our clients, ranging from choosing the right materials for a bathroom or kitchen remodel to picking the perfect paint, furniture, and lighting for a new home. If you're considering hiring a professional to help update your home, here is what you can expect when working with Macy Lane Designs:
Discovery
The first step in our process is to speak with you on the phone and better understand your design goals, needs, and budget.
Paid In-Person Consultation & Space Review
All of our projects start with a paid, in-person consultation. We’ll work with you to review your space in person or virtually, allowing us to gather measurements and better understand your home. We’ll also request photos of any design inspirations you may have.
Proposal Submission
Once we've reviewed your home in person and assessed the project requirements, we'll submit a detailed design proposal for your approval. After you sign off, you'll receive an invoice to officially begin the project.
Design Plan
Once the initial design deposit has been made, we’ll start work on a design plan that meets your needs. This process usually takes 2-4 weeks, depending on our bandwidth and the project's overall scope.
Presentation & Modification
After completing the design plan, we’ll review it with you and pivot where we need to. Design presentations can include 3D or 2D renderings, space plans, room elevations, furniture selections, paint recommendations, materials selection, flooring concepts, art, accessories, lighting, and hardscape recommendations.
Approval & Ordering
Upon approval of the design plan, we’ll provide a detailed breakdown of the items needed to complete your space. If you’ve selected our full-service design package, we’ll invoice all items and begin the procurement process.
Installation
After the remodeling & purchasing is done, it’s finally Installation Day! Our team will arrive with the finishing touches, including furniture, floor coverings, art, and accessories, resulting in a beautifully curated space that reflects you.
*Please note that Macy Lane Designs does not employ contractors or various trades. While we have several trade professionals that we work with and can refer, all trades are to be hired directly by the client for final install once design plan is approved.
